Obituary

Karen Astrid Holst, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 14, 2016 at her home near Black Hawk.

Karen was born in Minot, North Dakota to Emil and Selma Sather on December 16, 1935. Her grandparents emigrated from Norway in the 1880's.  She was the second born out of two children and spent time in Fargo, Towner and Crosby where she graduated high school in 1954.  After graduating from Minot State University in 1957 she moved to Rapid City and worked as a teacher, nurse, and for the telephone company.   aren and Orwayne "Bud" Holst were united in marriage on August 19, 1964 in Rapid City, SD. They both owned and operated Western Account Service through retirement while raising a family of two sons in the Black Hills.

Karen was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church.  She loved shopping, waterskiing, camping, reading, and spending time with friends and relatives and especially loved her two grandsons. Karen always loved the lake which is where she could relax with family and friends on the beach.She will truly be missed by all.

Karen is survived and missed by her two sons, Glenn Holst; and   David Holst, grandsons Jacob and Dylan Holst, and daughter-in-law Ann Marie Holst all of Rapid City; sister and brother-in-law Ann and Lowell Latimer, Minot, ND; and nephew John Latimer and niece Nancy Liffrig.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorial funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2006 at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Chaplain [Ret] Herb B. Cleveland officiating.

Inurnment will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
