RAPID CITY- Katherine (Kay) Baird, 97, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Golden Living Center, Meadowbrook. Kay was born on June 27, 1916 in St. Albans, New York to Margaret and Patrick Murphy. Kay married Wesley Baird on September 5, 1936. To this union, three sons were born. Kay spent her life taking care of her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family came first and she always made her house a home for all family and friends where everyone was welcome. She was a devout Catholic, instilling the faith in her family. Kay and Wes were married for 57 years until his death in 1993. In 1994, Kay moved to Rapid City to be closer to her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of Golden Living Center- Meadowbrook for all the love and care given to our mother over the past three years. She is survived by three sons, William Baird, Flagler Beach, FL; Robert Baird, Massapequa, NY; and Thomas (Cindy) Baird, Rapid City; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. To honor Kay's final wishes, a private celebration will be held in the Spring with family and friends.
