RAPID CITY--Kathleen FrancesKay Terborg, 86, died peacefully, Saturday, March 14, 2009, surrounded by her family, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Shes once again walking the beaches of Sydney, Australia, with her beloved husband, Roy. Kay was born July 22, 1922, in Sydney, Australia, to Herbert and Florence Farrell. She graduated high school at age 15 and immediately went to work as a telephone operator. On January 22, 1945, she married LeRoy Terborg, and soon took America by storm. Settling in Elk Point, SD, Kay and Roy began growing and raising their family of three children. Not content with being a housewife and mother, she was elected police magistrate for Union County in 1958, where she served with dignity and humor. In 1959, Kay and Roy moved to Rapid City, where she lived happily in the same home for the last 50 years. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, on January 25, 1978. Kay was an integral member of the Disabled American Veterans, serving as Bookkeeper/Office Manager. She was also known to have frequented the multiple weekly bingo sessions hosted by DAV, being successful enough to finance several return vacations to her native Australia. Happy and blessed for being part of Kays long life are her children, Carol Jones (Frank) and Kathi Hackett (Don), both of Rapid City, and Ron Terborg of Larkspur, CO. She was loved and doted on by grandchildren Kymberly, Michael, Becky, Christy, Bryan, Sarah, Chris, Matt and Katie; great grand children Kristina, Ashley, Amanda, Samantha, Calder, Zack, Abby, Ryan, Ashley, Kimberly Seth, Maddison, Austin, Olivia and Emery; and great-great grandchildren Hanna, Jordan and Maddison. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17th, at Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:30, Wednesday, March 18th, at the funeral home, with Father Bill Zandri officiating, and additional words provided by her dear friend and Eucharist lay minister, Ron McBride. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.
