Rapid City – Kathleen "Kathy" Sheets, 61, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Avantara Saint Cloud Nursing Facility.

Katheen Diane Isakson was born June 23, 1960 in Fargo, North Dakota to her parents, Joseph and Margaret [Silber] Isakson.

She attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, Valparaiso University in Indiana and received her BS degree, and the University of Sioux Falls.

Kathleen lived in many different parts of the country and had many different professions. She had a great sense of humor and was always willing to give a 100% to all of her adventures and endeavors while excelling in a number of professions. Her favorite was working as a children's minister in Orem, Utah and Bend, Oregon. Kathleen has an unwavering faith that stayed strong even in the darkest of times, showing great courage even in the face of early onset Alzheimer's. She also was a teacher and school administrator in both Salt Lake City, Utah and in Vacaville, California. In her latter years she worked in economic development for the State of South Dakota and the communities of Box Elder and Hill City. Her greatest joy was being a mom and wife. She will always be known as someone who could light up a room and leave everyone with a sense of importance as she saw the best in everyone.

She is survived by her husband: Mark Sheets of Rapid City, SD; her children: Kaia and Jans Carlson Sheets of Rapid City, SD; Justus Sheets and Shelby Crown of Spearfish, SD, Jordan and Amber Sheets of Pittsburg, CA; two sisters: Karen and Buck Deines of St. George, Utah and Elaine Isakson of Rockland, Maine; one brother: Paul Isakson and Tho Duc Dinh of Washington, DC; two grandchildren: Arija Carlson and Siri Carlson of Rapid City, SD.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Margaret [Silber] Isakson.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney, SD on June 30 at 3:00 pm CST. A private burial will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery in Stickney, SD.
