IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth James
Morris
January 25, 1953 – July 22, 2024
Kenneth James Morris of Westminster, Colorado, entered eternal rest July 22, 2024. Kenny, as he was known to most, was a beloved brother, uncle, and cousin to his family and a loyal and devoted friend to many.
Kenny was born January 25, 1953, in Faulkton, South Dakota, and was the third child of Joseph and Margaret Morris. In 1962, the family relocated to Hill City in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. When he wasn't helping at the family motel and laundromat or teasing and pranking his younger siblings, Kenny could be found participating in anything sports, and loved his time as a Hill City Ranger football, basketball and track team member. In his senior year of high school, he served as student council president and successfully initiated a change in the school colors from blue and white to green and gold, befitting the Ranger name and the only school in the country honored to have Smokey the Bear as their mascot. He often said that was his primary "claim to fame" of his high school years.
Kenny lived most of his adult life in the Denver Metro area working for a period of time customizing vans before spending over 30 years with Carefree of Colorado as a manufacturer's representative where he made significant contributions and enjoyed the opportunity to travel all over the country. His solid South Dakota work ethic earned him much recognition in his career.
In addition to being an avid Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, and Colorado Avalanche fan, Kenny had many loves and passions. His interest in photography produced beautiful pictures. He loved music including singing and showing off his jitterbug skills. He loved Colorado, especially Denver and the Rocky Mountains, and Hill City and the Black Hills. Kenny carried his faith with him throughout his life. He was a bit of a free spirit which provided much entertainment for his family when he shared his experiences and escapades in what the rest of the family fondly termed "Kenny Stories". Most of all, Kenny loved his family - his siblings, siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews, and his many cousins. Family was Kenny's core.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Charlie, and 2 brothers-in-law, Tim and Delton. He will be dearly missed by his siblings; John (Anna) Morris of Olathe, Kansas, Peg Schick of Rapid City, Carol Snyder of Rapid City, Bob (Marsha) Morris of Thornton, Colorado, Bev Morris of Rapid City, Donna Morris of Rapid City, 16 nieces and nephews, and 24 great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
