Kevin Climis passed peacefully June 29, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 66 years old.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother, Ingrid (Nilsen) Climis, his father, Ted Climis, and his brother, Brian "Buzz" Climis.
He is survived by his wife Cathy, former wives; Sandy (Jay) Roses, and Lori Climis, children; Michael (Gaby) Loveless, Jessey Peters, Anjetta Rendon and Chris Climis, Jamie Hall, Casey (Meaghan) Climis, Juliana Schultz, Steve (Abigail) Climis , and Cody Climis. He is also survived by his sisters Melanie Climis, Alyson (Gary) Bolton, and his twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, two nieces, and two nephews. He is also survived by his dogs, Harley and Deeohgee
He started his education at Lawrence Elementary in Poughkeepsie, New York, and graduated from Foxlane High School in June 1977. He joined the Air Force July 19th, 1977, where he continued several vocational level trainings, becoming a certified missile facilities technician in 1984, where he retrained as Avionics ComNav Technician. He spent two years stationed in Keflavic, Iceland. From there, he finished his Air Force career as a Master Sergeant at Ellsworth AFB as a crew Chief of his own KC-135 on August 1st, 1997.
Kevin enjoyed playing guitar and piano. He never had idle hands and loved woodwork, creating a family table where he would add a star inlay for every new member of his family. He also enjoyed traveling in the RV and camping.
After his retirement from the Air Force, he became a deputy sheriff with Pennington County Sheriff's Office. He then became a volunteer firefighter and first aid responder for Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department. After twenty years with Pennington County Sheriff's Office, he retired in January 2017, to move on to volunteer as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician with Keystone, Custer and Hill City Ambulance Service, eventually culminating as a dispatcher for Pennington and Custer County, South Dakota in January, 2020. He remained fully retired until his death.
Burial with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado at a later date.
