Edgemont - Kristy Jean McElhaney was born to Jackie [Bray] and Leonard McElhaney on February 16, 1979. Kristy became a Lord's Angel on January 14, 2015. Kristy attended Edgemont Schools and Northern State University. At the time of her death she was employed at the Edgemont Herald Tribune newspaper, Edgemont, SD. Kristy gave freely of herself while fighting her numerous illnesses and injuries. She focused on fund raisers for those in need, was actively involved in community events and United Way. Her own health set aside while she gave herself to others. She was everyone's Best Friend. Morning her loss are her family; Leonard McElhaney [father], Jackie (Bray) and Richard Hanson [mother and step-father], Audrey Bray [grandmother], Johnny and Tina Bray and family [uncle, aunt, and nieces], and Nicole Hertly [partner]. Many other extended family and friends. Kristy was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Florence McElhaney and her grandfather, Leo W. Bray. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE service will be held on February 7, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Edgemont Baptist Church in Edgemont, SD. Brother Chance officiating. A lunch and continued celebration will be at the St. James Parish Center in Edgemont. Lunch provided by Baptist Ladies and whomever wishes to share a side dish or desert. God's finger touched him and he slipped away From earth's dark shadows to a brighter day; God saw the road was getting rough.
