Lana Bussell passed away peacefully and quietly on March 22, 2020 in Rapid City with her family at her side.

Lana was born on September 12, 1956 in Cozad, Nebraska to Fred and Rosa Stott. As a child, Lana lived in Cozad, Nebraska and Newcastle, Wyoming before she and her parents moved to Rapid City to stay. She attended West Junior High and was a 1974 graduate of Rapid City Central High School. After graduation, Lana went to work at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was a proud and dedicated employee of Rapid City Regional Hospital for 44 years, working all of those years in pediatrics as a Health Unit Clerk. It was while working on the pediatrics floor that she gained many close friends. She loved where she worked and who she worked with and cherished the relationships she made right up until her final hours.

While working at the hospital, Lana met the love of her life, Gene Bussell. The two would marry in 1978, a union that would span nearly 42 years. Through ups and downs, good times and hard times, they proved time and again that love conquers all. Together they raised three children; Jim, Brianne, and Michael.

Lana is survived by her husband, Gene Bussell, children; Jim (Tausha) Bussell of Rapid City, Brianne (Robert) Weidner of Sioux Falls, and Michael Bussell of Rapid City and her grandchildren; Brendon, Breiane, Carson, Millie and Ella. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Rosa Stott.

Her family wishes to extend its most sincere and profound gratitude to the staff of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN as well as the John T. Vucurevich Cancer Care Institute in Rapid City for their care and compassion during her treatment.

A family graveside service will be held on Friday. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, details to be announced.
