Laurel Susan Brown

Rapid City – Laurel Susan Brown, 69, died Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice House.

She was born May 7, 1956 in Rapid City, SD to Arnold and Florence (Schlimgen) Brown. She attended school in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City Stevens High School in 1974. She then attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for one year.

She got married in 1976 and they moved to Plymouth, MN where she worked for 20 years in city and county government. She was later divorced and moved back to Rapid City due to health issues.

She had a life-long love for ballet and animals throughout her life and made many donations to their cause, esp. the Black Hills Humane Society.

At her request there will be no services.

Laurel is survived by her brother Tom Brown of Rapid City; two nephews; and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband and good friend: John Tyndall and one sister Michelle Nasstrom.
