LaVerne Carrie Williams ,97, of Rapid City died Monday, November 4, 2019 at Avantara North Health Care.

Laverne was born February 6,1922 in St. Louis, Missouri to Fred and Lillian (Beger) Teepe. She grew up in St. Louis where she met the love of her life, Henry "Hank" Williams, while dancing at the USO when he was on leave from the U.S. Navy during World War II. They married in 1947 and had been married for 71 years at the time of his passing. Laverne and Hank moved to the Chicago area in 1963 and where they continued to raise their four children. She loved her golf leagues, Friday night bowling league, playing cards, sewing and spending all the time she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1997, they moved to Rapid City and spent several years traveling between their children in Rapid City, Chicago, and Florida. In 2013 Rapid City became their permanent home.

LaVerne is survived by her children: Cheryl (Bill) Allen of Rapid City, Dr. Robert (Debbie) Williams of Valrico, Florida, Susan Strub of Round Lake Heights, Illinois, Ronald (Stephanie) Williams of Antioch, Illinois.

She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren: Melissa Allen, Marci Dodge, David Ogg, Becky Hamilton, Ker Strub, Erin Strub, Ken Williams, Jessica Becker, Kevin Williams, Trevor Williams, Spencer Williams, Cameron Williams, Alexi Williams, Preston Williams, and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hank, and her great granddaughter Jenna Ogg.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church at 11am on December 6 ^th.

lnurnment of her ashes will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.
