Lavonna (Teri) M. Wickstrom (Tyree)

Rapid City - Lavonna M. Wickstrom passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024. She was born on August 23, 1931.

Teri was a very caring person. She raised a family while traveling with her husband, Harold, as he served our country. She worked for many years outside of the home as well.  She volunteered with RSVP helping law enforcement, which she thoroughly enjoyed.  She was a long time member and also served as a board member of the Minneluzahan Senior Center – running their Thrift Store and helping with bingo.  She loved to stay busy and always had a smile on her face and a glint in her eyes.  Her joy was from being with others and helping where she could – be it a personal friend or a request in the mail. She had a generous heart and was full of fun.

Teri was in the care of Clarkson Health Care as her health declined.  Even as she was going through all of challenges of her health, she smiled and wanted a hug from whomever walked by.  She loved the staff that was so good to her and was always showering her with love and smiles as well.

Teri is survived by her daughter Laurie Ann Taffner and granddaughter Lucy Ann, her grandson Jason, and several great and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Harold), sons (Rod and Steven), brother (Robert), and her granddaughter (Desiree).

In honor of her wishes, there will not be a funeral service.  There will be visitation at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home from 9:00 to 10:30 am on Thursday, June 20.

Teri will be placed to rest with her beloved husband at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with a short Burial Service at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 20.
