Obituary

2008, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House. He was born July 13, 1925, at Gettysburg, the son of Nick and Grace (Gear) Glodt. He grew up in Gettysburg and graduated from high school there in 1943. He worked on a farm until entering the U.S. Army in May 1945. He served in Germany until 1946 then returned to Gettysburg to farm. On August 14, 1948, he married Dora Fay Axsom at Pierre and they lived near Gettysburg and continued to farm. In 1973 they moved to McLaughlin, where he worked at the lumber yard and for the City of McLaughlin until retirement in 1990. He moved to Rapid City in 2000. He loved woodworking and was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Fountain Springs Community Church. He was fortunate to have attended his 65th class reunion in June 2008. The family would like to thank the V.A. Medical Center staff at Ft. Meade for the wonderful care he received. Surviving are two sons, John "Jack" (Kim) Glodt, Rapid City and Larry Glodt, Texas; one daughter, Velma (Aaron) Klapkin, Rapid City; six grandchildren, Bobbi (Chuck) Adrian, Rapid City, Tammi (Mike) Bennett, Casper, WY, Jason (Meagan) Glodt, Yuma, AZ, Jarret Glodt, Rapid City, Sam Glodt, NM and Audrey Glodt, NM; four great-grandchildren, Nalani and Chaz Bennett and Kaitlyn and Ryan Adrian; a brother, Pat (Carrie) Glodt, Gettysburg; and two sisters, Agnes (Donald) Rausch, Aberdeen and Lucille (Neil) Christensen, Salem, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dora in February 2002. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Fountain Springs Community Church, with the Rev. David Kinnan officiating. Inurnment, with military honors, will be at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
