Pierre Leander A. Jassmann, 97, Pierre, and formerly of Rapid City died Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Pierre. Leander Albert Jassmann was born September 14, 1913 at Goodrich, North Dakota to Emil and Emma [Serr] Jassman. He entered the United States Army February 12, 1942 and was honorable discharged on October 21, 1945. He married Catherine Charlolette Mulcahy on October 14, 1950 at Rapid City. Survivors include one step daughter: Francis Tennyson of Rapid City; one brother: Calvin Jassmann of Longmont, CO; one sister: Viola Strutz of Pierre; two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: Donald, Arthur, Frank, and Harry; 2 sisters: Lorena and Esther; one stepson: John Gates; and one step-grandchild. Arrangements are with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home of Rapid City.A Memorial Service for Leander and his wife Catherine will be at 9:00 am Monday, January 3, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Pierre. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturis, SD.
