Funeral services for Leonard John Bachman, 93, will be held at 9:00 A.M. Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 835 East Fairmont Boulevard, Rapid City, South Dakota with Pastor Douglas Free and Pastor James Hemmelman officiating.  Interment will follow in the Faith Cemetery in Faith, South Dakota at 2:00 P.M.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City, South Dakota.

Leonard John Bachman, owner of Seeley Clothing Store in Rapid City, died Friday, December 13, 2024 at Monument Health-Rapid City Hospital in Rapid City.

Leonard was born Saturday, May 9, 1931 in Faith, South Dakota son of Phillip and Anna Christina (Geiken) Bachman.  He was raised on the Bachman Ranch 5 miles south of Faith, South Dakota, graduating from Faith High School in 1949.  On June 17, 1956, Leonard married Lila Mae Meisner in Grover, South Dakota.

He began his career in the clothing business in 1956 working for the Seeley Clothing Store.  In the mid -1960s Leonard entered into a partnership with Mr. Seeley and by the 1970s he was the sole owner.   Leonard truly enjoyed the clothing business and visiting with his many customers.

He is survived by his wife, Lila Bachman of Rapid City, sons Mark (Elsa) and Jon (Kelly) both of Rapid City, grandchildren Mitchell Bachman of Rapid City, Jessica (Joe) Bachman Levey of Omaha, Nebraska, and Ryan Bachman of Rapid City.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Phillip, on February 12, 1976; mother, Anna, on August 28, 1989; and brothers, Bernard P. Bachman, on August 21, 2008 and Ronald L. Bachman on November 27, 2020.

Serving as pallbearers are Mitchell Bachman, Ryan Bachman, Mark Bachman, Ross Gorman, Allen Zandstra, and Jon Bachman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 835 East Fairmont Boulevard, Rapid City, South Dakota 57701 would be appreciated by the family.
