LeRoy "Roy" Duane Schumacher, 86, died Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

Roy was born June 10, 1936 in Streeter, North Dakota to Adam and Martha (Mertz) Schumacher. He joined the United States Air Force one week after his high school graduation. He served 22 years of active duty and retired in 1976. He then worked 21 years at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.

Roy is preceded in death by both his parents and two daughters: Susan Tirman and Laurie Campbell.

He is survived by his wife Ruth (Olson) Schumacher of Rapid City; one son Bob (Dondra) Menzel of Dupree, SD; one daughter Debra (Roger) Widner of Farmington, MN; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Roy was a man of faith and loved his country. He was a long standing member of Zion Lutheran Church. His final resting place will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
