Obituary

Lester Weishaar, 75, Rapid City, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 11 th , 2022.

A visitation will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm Thursday, February 24 at Our Lady of the Black Hills in Piedmont, with a Rosary to begin at 6pm. A Christian Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Friday February 25 at the church with Fr. Andrzej Wyrostek as Celebrant. Interment will be 1:00pm at the Black Hills National Cemetery with full military honors.

Les was born in Ipswich, SD on February 11, 1947, to Arthur & Ramona Weishaar. Les' family eventually moved to Leola, SD where he grew up. After graduation, he joined the Navy where he worked in the boiler room. Les was stationed on the USS Springfield and was able to see many countries, including France, during his 3-year tour. When he arrived home, he enrolled at Northern College in Aberdeen where he met Linda Wessels. After moving to Rapid City, SD, he married Linda on October 24, 1970.

Les spent several years restoring and collecting classic cars. some of his favorites include a 1969 blue metallic Cougar Eliminator, 1969 428 SCJ Mustang factory drag car known to all of us as Lucy, 1969 Boss 302, 1967 A code springtime yellow fastback Mustang and a bright red 63 Falcon convertible. He also enjoyed entering some of these cars in the local car shows and runs with the local Mustang club.

Les then started a new hobby, wood working. He built Linda some of the most amazing corner cabinets and display cases and made numerous other items such as wooden ornaments yearly for the grandkids, cutting boards, bowls, candle holders, & counter storage containers.

Les is survived by his children Mark (Misty) Weishaar, Piedmont; Joe (Jess) Weishaar, New Underwood; Janet (Cody) Lind, Rapid City; Jeff (Kellie) Weishaar, Rochester, WA; Oliver (Sophia) Weishaar, Winlock, WA; Nick (Megan) Weishaar, Rapid City; grandchildren Andrew Weishaar, Valerie Lind, Hunter Weishaar, Noah Weishaar, Bella Weishaar, Caleb Weishaar, Riley Weishaar, Ava Weishaar, Fred Weishaar, Ryker Weishaar, Sophia Weishaar, Penelope Weishaar, Savannah Weishaar, Evelyn Weishaar, Katie Curtis, Melissa Wolski; great grandchildren Kayden Wolski, Jackson Torres, Aria Johns & Maisyn Torres.

Les was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, brothers Loren & Leland, parents, Arthur & Ramona, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
