Lila (Skog) Burke, 80, Rapid City, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 after a long, valiant battle with cancer at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born January 12, 1928 to John and Minnie (Anderson) Skog in Huron. The family moved to Rapid City when she was two months old. Lila grew up in Rapid City until 1942 when the family moved to Vancouver, WA where she graduated from high school in 1946. They returned to Rapid City where Lila took her first job at Newberrys and attended National Business College at night. Lila later worked at Rapid Chevy, Montana Dakota Utilities, Gibsons and Rushmore State Bank. She met Patton Pat Burke in 1947 when he was stationed at the then Rapid City Air Force Base, and they were married, January 1, 1949. The family was stationed in England and North Carolina. Lila was a life time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a 53 year member of the choir. Lila was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for all of the family reunions, 4th of July barbeques and birthday parties. She is now with all of her old bridge players. She is survived by her husband, Pat, of 59 years, a daughter Linda Lauziere, Rapid City, grand daughter, Brenda Lauziere, Baldwin, WI, a sister, Lola Aimonetto, Newcastle and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Visitation will be held from 5pm until 7pm, Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, Rapid City. Services will be held, 11:00am, Wednesday, July 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastors Wilbur Holz and Al Jacobson officiating. Interment will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established to Trinity Lutheran Church, Rapid City.
