RAPID CITY- Lillian Ruth Chell, 88, died Sunday July 14, after a long, rich life of caring for others. Beloved by many, who will miss her. She was born January 10, 1925 in Beltrami County, MN. and graduated High School in Bemidji, MN. She entered Cadet Nurses Training at Bethesda Hospital, St. Paul, MN. and began a career as a registered nurse. Lillian married George Chell July 31, 1948. They moved to Rapid City, SD in 1956. She worked in many fields of nursing in Rapid City until retiring in 1982. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Calvary Quilters and Al-Anon. She was also a CASA volunteer. A gifted seamstress, Lillian loved sewing, and quilting in particular. She also enjoyed golfing and bridge. Always ready with a listening ear, her friends cherished her honesty and compassion. She is survived by loving husband George Chell, son Robert (Carole) Chell, Brookings, SD, daughters Barbara (Chuck) Schwartz, Vermilliion, SD and Margaret (Steven) Kolden, Menomonie, WI, brother Edward Larson, Bemidji, MN, six grandchildren, one great grandchild and many friends. She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Services will be at Calvary Lutheran Church 10:30 AM Thursday, July 18 with Rev. Dwight Stensgaard officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to Calvary Quilters or Al-Anon are requested.
