IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lily Marie
Brown
April 3, 1935 – July 9, 2021
Lily Marie Brown, 86, of Rapid City passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.
Lily was born April 3, 1935, in North Dakota, to Jacob and Mary (Watt) Schuessler. On January 23, 1954, she married Wayne Keith Brown in Buffalo, SD. To this union they had 6 children.
Lily's never ending family values have been evident throughout her life. Beginning her marriage with Wayne involved being ready to pack up and follow a seismograph crew wherever the jobs took them. They had the opportunity to move to the Black Hills and this is where they made their home and raised their family. Together they built the home which Lily lived in for nearly 60 years. They were a team in the work world as well - Wayne worked as a plumber, logger, and then started Brown's Heating & Air Conditioning. Lily did the office work and literally anything else that needed to be done along with keeping the home and family on track, not an easy job. After her husband passed away in 2002, she delivered Meals on Wheels as long as she was able to.
She enjoyed cooking and serving large family meals with marathon card playing to follow, quilting, finding deals at rummage sales, rock hunting in North Dakota, and spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Her dog, Sally, had been her constant companion and protector.
Lily is survived by her children; Kathy (Tim) Deml of Rapid City, Laurie Conley of Black Hawk, Joe (Lisa) Brown of Piedmont, Doug Brown of Rapid City, sister; Dorothy Davis of Harrison, ID, 6 grandchildren; Michael Conley, Nicholas (Megan) Huntington, Christopher (Amber) Brown, Steven (Tessa) Conley, Kayla Brown, Angel (Devin) Rico, 3 great grandchildren; Lily, Lyla, and Lola Conley, and her beloved dog "Sally".
Lily was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, sons; Gary and Robert Brown, and her brothers; LaVern and William Schuessler.
Interment will be at a later date in the Sentinel Butte Cemetery in Sentinel Butte, ND. Online condolences can be left at www.osheimschmidt.com
