PIEDMONT- Linda Johns, 53, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at her home. Linda Jean Hardin Poapst Johns was born May 19, 1961 in Sacramento, CA to Norman Dwight Hardin & Beverly Joan Sinclair-Cress. Known as a "FIRECRACKER," Linda entered this life in a hurry; the hospital had to wait. She was born in an ambulance and all her poor mother was worried about was her purse. She just had to have it with her, don't you know; lipstick, medical card and Mentholatum, HA!!HA!! Linda absolutely was a firecracker and ornery as the day was long. We all received a good dose of that on a daily bases up until the very end of her life. Growing up in Sacramento, CA, in her younger years, Grandpa Sinclair claimed she was a spitfire. She loved to torture, in her own subtle way, her baby sister Janie, her siblings & cousin Virginia Ann. HA!HA! The words Linda Jean !! were repeated on a daily bases numerous times by her mother. The little blonde- haired, blue eyed, pin-curled girl was a force to be reckoned with!! In her thirty's she lived in Pomona ,CA with Popazon ( Henry Cress) mother and daughter Beverly. Linda shocked the whole family determining to better herself by getting a college degree in nursing. WOW! A licensed phlebotomist!! We were so proud. Also Linda was a CNA and a bonded security guard. In her forty's she came to live with her sister Peggy and her husband Allan, and her mother of course, in the beautiful town of Corvallis, MT. This led to their Big move to South Dakota to the city of Black Hawk. Linda had four wonderful kids and one of her favorite stories was when Linda was on her way to have Beverley she had to stop and get McDonalds and some KFC before she went to the hospital. In October of 2007 Linda met the love of her life, Skeet, and she swept him off his feet. Linda and Skeet got married on 06/07/08 in Nemo, SD. Linda's family was so excited that she had finally found a wonderful man who would take care of her. Skeet and Linda made a wonderful loving home in Piedmont, SD . She enjoyed the BBQ that Skeet would cook while she made salads and baked. She loved the vacations they got to go on in the Bahamas, watching movies of all kinds with her husband, singing karaoke and tending to her plant "Arnold." Linda enjoyed playing games, coloring, tea parties, crafts and doing makeovers with her grandkids. The kids always knew grandma Linny would play their games with them. She was such a sweet loving caring person who just couldn't say NO to the grandkids . She really loved it when she got to take care of Lilly for a month one summer . She talked about what she and Lilly did all the time and the "nana nana nana dance" Lilly would do for her. It would make her laugh each and every time. Linda is survived in death by her husband Vern L. Johns (Skeet) of Piedmont, SD; her children Beverly Poapst Speigle & ( Robert Tallman ) of Rapid City SD, Kimberely & (Pat) Leonardini. Of Coos Bay, OR, Phil Ortega IIl, of CA and Robbie Ortega-Milo, of CA; stepchildren, Brandy & (Auston) Sutton, of Wolf Point, MT, Justina Johns, of Stockton, CA, Dustin Johns, of Rapid City SD and Justin & (Sarah ) Johns, of Rapid City, SD; siblings, Joan Chick, of Burns Flat, OK, Peggy & (Allan) Wallenstein, of Black Hawk, Janie Marshall Shannon, of Sacramento, CA and Stephen Johnson , of Lodi, CA; grandkids, Katelynn Poapst-Bitterman, Kora Speigle, William Speigle JR., Kendrick Speigle, Forrest Leonardini, Shane Leonardini, Alexandrea Sutton, Angelica Sutton, Mersadies Sutton, Lilly Johns, Charlee Johns and Ozias Johns and many nieces and nephews.
