RAPID CITY--Linda Parsons, 75, died on Monday, January 18, 2016.
She was born on May 26, 1940, in Kankakee, IL, to Frank and Loretta (Pietraszewski) Sovinski. The family purchased a Sears and Roebuck home and assembled it in Flagstaff, AZ. She graduated from Flagstaff High School and attended nursing school in Phoenix.
She was united in marriage to Richard B. Parsons on August 18, 1962, in Igloo, SD. She worked as a nurse in the Igloo hospital, Bennett Clarkson, Rapid City Regional, Rapid City Medical Center and taught nursing at St. Johns and USD Nursing School.
Survivors include her husband Richard, a daughter, Kelly (Stan) Scheurer, of Rapid City; a son, David Parsons, of Upton, WY; a sister, Maritta (Bob) Bush, of Colleyville, TX; 3 grandchildren, Daniel (Missy) Scheurer and their 4 children of Rapid City; Sherry (Thomas) Rosenau and their 3 children, of Rapid City and Corey Scheurer, of Rapid City.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Patrick Sovinski and a sister, Jacqueline Bacon.
Christian funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 am on Friday, Jan. 22, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Fr. Michel Mulloy presiding. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to mass. Lunch will immediately follow the mass.
Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery.
A memorial can be designated to either the Alzheimer's Foundation or Hospice of the Hills.
