Lloyd (Pete) H. Peterson, 83, of Rapid City, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born on January 17, 1934 to Herman and Ruby (Dixon) Peterson in LeRoy, Michigan. Lloyd grew up in LeRoy and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He spent many years as an aircraft mechanic with the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base and before his retirement, was involved in the development of the B-1 Bomber while he was stationed at the Strategic Air Command in Omaha. He retired in 1973, he served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star with Valarand Airman's Medal.  He and Alice moved back to Rapid City after his retirement in 1973. After retiring he opened Pete's Conoco and Pete's Repair. He loved spending time with family.

He married Alice Soulek on September 20, 1955 in Lake Andes, South Dakota.

Lloyd was a past president of the 28th Wing Association, a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of The Retired Enlisted Association.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Alice, Rapid City; his daughter, Teri (Mark) McNally; Rapid City; his son; Randy, Rapid City; his grandchildren Michael McNally, Grace Helen Peterson, Heath Comeau, Brock Hoff and Danielle Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel and granddaughter, Katie Ann McNally.

A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St Therese Catholic Church followed by a Christian Wake Service and Rosary Recitation at 7:00pm.

A Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 3 at St Therese Church followed by interment at Black Hills National Cemetery.

A memorial has been established by the family.
