Lois J. Meredith, Rapid City died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family in the early hours of February 3, 2025.

Lois was born on December 21, 1930, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frederick and Catherine Brown. Lois had four brothers, Fritz, George (Lefty), John and Robert. She had one sister Naomi: all deceased.

Lois was raised in Beaver Falls, PA, attended and graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1948. Lois married William G. (Buddy) Meredith. After youthful adventures, they settled in Rapid City, South Dakota. That union produced three children, Michelle Meredith, Lori Rigmaiden, and William (Buddy) Meredith. All three children reside in Rapid City.

Lois was employed as Associate Director of Finance with the Black Hills Council of Local Governments from 1972 until she retired in 2000. Lois was also employed as Fiscal Officer and Deputy Director of the Western South Dakota Community Action Agency from 1968 – 1972.
Lois is survived by her two daughters, one son and nine grandchildren, Jessica Hart, Jerad Tomac, Tyler Payne, William Meredith Jr., John Meredith, Zachary Payne, Rebecca Meredith-Lopez, Meredith Rigmaiden and Richard Rigmaiden. Lois was blessed to know five great grandchildren. Avery Hart, Ethan Parsons, Drew Parsons, Jonah Tomac and Jeremiah Tomac.

Lois had an infinite capacity for love and touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She was 94 years young.

Her memorial service will take place at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd, Rapid City, SD, 57702, at 10:00 am Friday, February 7, 2025.

Lois loved trees.  In lieu of flowers you are all encouraged to plant a tree in Lois' memory.
