Werdal
October 21, 1928 – November 3, 2016
RAPID CITY, Lois Jean Werdal, 88, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 3, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
Lois was born in Sisseton, SD and attended Huron College. She began her nursing home career at Tekakwitha Nursing Home as a bookkeeper and business administrator. She then moved on to becoming a Nursing Home Administrator, first in Flandreau, SD and then Sibley, IA. Upon her retirement in 1993, Lois relocated to Rapid City, SD to be closer to family. She became involved in Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed bible studies and church-sponsored projects. She was particularly fond of the church prayer park.
Along with her faith, Lois loved her family and her wish was for them to keep and continue to strengthen family relationships. She was an artist, writer, avid reader and cat lover.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton & Martha (Thompson) Werdal, son Karl Fisher, 10 siblings (including a twin brother) and 13 nieces and nephews.
Lois is survived by her grandchildren, Alanna and Kristopher Fisher, 14 nieces & nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, at Trinity Lutheran in Rapid City
Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, at the Sisseton City Cemetery in Sisseton, SD.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Humane Society of the Black Hills, 1820 E Saint Patrick Street, Rapid City, SD 57703.
