Obituary

Lore Ann Wolff passed away peacefully at home in Arizona on April 21st surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lore was born in Canby, Minnesota on September 16th, 1958 to Merlyn and Lucille (Lozinski) Melcher. She was the oldest of five children. When Lore was a toddler, they moved to Java, SD where Lore grew up. During school she was a cheerleader and ran track. She graduated from Java High School in 1976.  Lore went on to become a LPN from Pierre School of Nursing.

Lore met Patrick in elementary school but they didn't start dating til after high school. They celebrated 44 years of marriage last fall. They lived in Hoven, Mobridge, Aberdeen and lastly Rapid City. They have so many fond memories wherever they lived, building life lasting relationships with neighbors and friends everywhere they went. While they each have very unique and different personalities, together they made a great team. They were blessed with two daughters, Heather and Kayla.

Lore was a nurse for a number of years, a ballet teacher for a short time and an aerobic instructor but her favorite job of all was being a mom and grandma.  She loved watching her daughter's activities, dance, soccer and track.

The light of her life was her grandchildren, Taylor, Lucas and London. She enjoyed making memories with them and always loved on them.  She enjoyed baking for them and with them, cheering them on from the sideline, taking them to see Santa or the Easter Bunny and was always there for them.  She enjoyed sending care packages to Taylor and Lucas and bringing dresses and dolls to London.

Lore was so kind, caring, reliable and also talented in everything she did. She loved sharing her infamous baked goods and donating her crocheted and knitted blankets to people in need. She loved to go walking almost everyday, spend time with her family, cheer on the Arizona Cardinals and was very active in her church. Lore was always up for an adventure, going to a concert, and enjoyed traveling with Pat and as a family.

Even in her toughest days she would never want to burden anyone and was always willing to help out.  She had such an impact on anyone's life who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. There wasn't a holiday, birthday, appointment or get together that she wasn't prepared for. She was the best at gifting personal cards for every occasion that made everyone feel special. Lore was the true definition of the matriarch of the family. Being the glue that held the family together, her presence is so deeply missed.

We want to thank the amazing staff at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and Phoenix, that gave Lore such wonderful care over the last 50 years and all the other healthcare workers and volunteers that have cared for her throughout the years.

Lore is survived by her husband, Patrick, and two daughters, Heather Wolff of Rapid City, SD, and Kayla Veach (Brett) of Chandler, AZ, grandchildren, Taylor (Caira) Wolff of Olympia, WA, Lucas Wolff of Rapid City, SD and London Veach of Chandler, AZ; mother, Lucille Melcher of Java, SD, siblings, Mark (Cindy) Melcher of Pollock, SD and Susan (Dean) Dills of Andover, MN.  Also, many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and other close family and friends.

Lore is preceded in death by her father, Merlyn Melcher, grandparents Cecelia and Louis Lozinski and Arthur and Gladys Melcher and two infant brothers, Robert and Ronald.

Come celebrate Lore's life and the amazing person she was and wear her favorite color, blue.
