IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loretta L.
Davis
May 18, 1943 – October 10, 2016
Loretta (Heinrich) Davis, 73, of Rapid City, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Westhills Village Health Care.
Loretta was born May 18, 1943, to Carl and Ernestine (Rieger) Heinrich and was raised in Mott, ND, graduating high school in 1961. She married Earl Davis on March 23, 1967, in a very small ceremony, which was the perfect kickoff for their 49 years together.
Loretta worked at various financial institutions until Agate Public School of Colorado found her. Once hired she wore many hats, to include: Administrative Secretary, nurse, bookkeeper, school board clerk, tech support, counselor, bus driver as well as driver coordinator. Loretta retired five (5) times from Agate School. When it finally stuck, as you may guess, it took three people to replace her. She was a joy and an inspiration to many.
Along with her career she also managed to raise two wonderful children on a Colorado acreage with fond memories of those busy times. Besides the successes of her children and grandchildren, she prided herself on her service to the rural community as an emergency medical responder. She could be relied on for skilled, compassionate care.
Earl and Loretta moved to Rapid City in 2004 and were among the first residents of the Westhills Village Villas living. Loretta became very active in Westhills volunteer programs and was loved by each resident she met. Her warm friendly smile and personality will be missed throughout the facility. Loretta was a strong member of her church at First Congregational Church of Rapid City.
Loretta loved time with her family and had a 90-day rule to be sure to see them at least that often. When not with them she would be glad to talk about them and did until the very last moments of her life.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Earl; daughter, Laura Davis Luehrs (Rod) and grandsons, Shawn, Tyler and Ryan of Kansas; and son, Clark (Phyllis) and granddaughter Kaleena of Colorado. Surviving siblings include Veron & Donna Heinrich, Clarence & Marilyn Heinrich, and Emy & Duane Baumgartner. Preceding Loretta in death was her granddaughter, Sara of Kansas; and siblings, Elmer Heinrich and Eileen (Heinrich) Goeschel.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the First Congregational Church (1200 Clark St.), with the Rev. Susan Huffman presiding.
In lieu of flowers donations may go to Westhills Foundation, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
