Obituary

RAPID CITY- Lorraine L. Rishea, 80, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at Golden Living Center, Black Hills in Rapid City. Lorraine was born on was on December 20, 1932 in Webster, SD to John and Rose (Gort) Kies. She attended school in Webster and graduated from Webster High School. She went on to attend X-Ray tech school in Sioux Falls and was employed at McKennan Hospital. She moved to Rapid City and worked as a nurse at St. John's Hospital. She was introduced by her best friend to a service man, TSGT Paul F. Rishea who was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base who became the love of her life. She married Paul on June 13, 1964 at Webster. To this union two children were born: John and Melissa. Paul remained in the Air Force for 21 years and that relocated the family to Hickham AFB, Plattsburgh AFB, Los Angeles Air Force Station and then retired at Seymoor Johnson AFB in 1979. Upon his retirement, the family moved back to Rapid City where they made it their home. Lorraine worked as an X-Ray Technician for many years and was the past state president of the American Business Women and the American Radiology Association. She was very involved in Blessed Sacrament Church where she attended 7:00 am Sunday Mass and was the organist/pianist for the Choir which she did with her daughter, Melissa. They also were members of the Dakota Choral. Lorraine will be remembered for being a genuinely sweet lady, faithful to her family and friends, dependable, loving with a heart of gold, and the patience of saint. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Paul in 1985. Survivors include her son, John (Jennifer) Rishea, Denver; daughter, Melissa Rishea, Rapid City; and two granddaughters, Amelia and Muriel. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Christian Wake Service following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. William Zandri presiding. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
