Obituary

MAHTOMEDI, MN - Lucille E. Harris, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Lighthouse Memory Care Center, with family by her side. She was born June 8, 1919 in Faulkton, South Dakota, to Nicholas and Mary (Nelson) Rombs. The Rombs family also included one brother, Walter and four sisters; Evelyn, Hazel, Kathryn and Marie. After graduating from Faulkton High School, Lucille married Kenneth R. Harris on November 9, 1937. Lucille was a devoted wife and mother to six children; Roger, Barbara, Linda, June, Richard and Betty. The family followed Kenneth throughout the state of South Dakota as he pursued his career in highway construction. In 1964 Lucille and Kenny moved to Rapid City, South Dakota with four of their six children and later built and owned the Windmill Truck Stop. Lucille enjoyed crafts, gardening, puzzles, spending time with family and along with Kenny, was a member of the VMCCA - Historical Automobile Club of the Black Hills. In 2007 Lucille moved to Minnesota to be cared for by her three older daughters and the loving staff at Lighthouse of Mahtomedi Memory Care Center. Lucille is survived by five children; Barbara (Ken) Ostlund, Minnesota, Linda (Bob) Potter, Florida, June (Ralph) Robole, Wisconsin, Richard Harris, Rapid City and Betty Harris, Rapid City; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, her husband Kenneth, her oldest son Roger Harris and grandson Alan Harris. Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 22. Visitation and prayer services will follow on Monday, March 26 in Rapid City, South Dakota, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
