Rapid City – Luise Haegele, Rapid City, died Sunday at her residence in Rapid City under Hospice Care.
Luise Elmira Evans was born January 14, 1955 at St. Louis, Missouri to Curtis Franklin and Anna Margaret [Kadel] Evans. As a small child the family lived in several places with her father, Curtis being in the military, but they lived in Michigan where Luise attended grade school. The family returned to St. Louis and she attended Lutheran High School South where she graduated.
She married David Edwin Haegele on October 4, 1975 at St. Louis, MO. David was in the Air Force and they lived in several locations, including Iceland and Germany. David retired from the Air Force and they moved to Rapid City, SD and have lived here since. For several years she worked at Meadowbrook Elementary School until she retired in 2012 due to health issues.
She loved to decorate cakes and she would do the baptism banners at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and she was also involved with the youth of the church. She also liked to go bowling.
Survivors include her husband: David Haegele of Rapid City; two sons: David [Melanie] Haegele II of Box Elder, SD and Daniel [Kristen] Haegele of Bonny Lake, WA; one daughter: Stefanie [Dan] Garland of Pierre, SD; seven grandchildren; and one brother: Curtis Evans, JR. of Walnutport, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm Thursday, February 18 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City and funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday, February 19 at the funeral home with Rev. Josh Jones officiating.
Burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at St. Louis, Missouri on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 12:45 pm. with arrangements in St. Louis being handled by the Kutis Funeral Home – South County Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the ALS Association.
