IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lyle Harold
Bradford
August 15, 1937 – August 13, 2024
Lyle Harold Bradford was born August 15, 1937 to parents Henry and Mary Ellen (Parkhurst) Bradford in Valentine, Nebraska. He passed away peacefully at home in Rapid City on August 13, 2024.
Lyle spent his early years around Wood, SD before moving to Rapid City. He graduated high school from Cathedral High School in 1955. He married the love of his life, Alice Peed, on June 14, 1958. They had four children, Rodney, Ronald, Renee and Robert.
Lyle started working at Dakota Typewriter (Dakota Business Center) while in high school and remained a loyal employee until he retired at age 77 to help care for his great granddaughters. This was not surprising, as he also coached both baseball and softball as well as various odd jobs where he enjoyed being a part of the community where Alice and he raised their children throughout the years.
Lyle's family always came first, he was the first person to call for both support and action if something just wasn't right. His sense of humor was present even as he suffered the effects of dementia.
Lyle was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Bradford, grandson, Drew Bradford, brother Bob Bradford, sister Wanda Mains and his parents. He had four siblings who passed away during childhood.
Grateful to have shared his life and left to miss him are his wife, Alice Bradford, children, Rodney (Kim) Bradford, Renee Sears, Robert (Virginia) Bradford and daughter-in-law Mary Bradford. Grandchildren, Richard (Jen) Bradford, Raquel (Aaron) Booth, Rhiannon (Ben) Sears, Riley (Anika) Sears, Keara (Justin) Ashley, Dominic (Katelyn) Bradford, Trevor Bradford, Christy (Joseph) Furtado, Alicia (Aaron) Thorson, and Brandon (Jordan) Ellefson. Survivors also include 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to his doctors and the Monument Home + Hospice team for the support and advice as we went through this transition.
