Lyle Hendrickson, 90, Rapid City SD, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at Aventara Mountain View. He was in rehab following a heart attack.

Lyle was born on April 4, 1935, to Harold and Helen (Nerem) Hendrickson. He grew up in Denbeigh ND. He graduated from Denbeigh High School and NDSU. He married Adeline Michalenko on October 12, 1956. They had three children: DuWayne in 1957, Sharon in 1958, and Kenneth in 1962. They later divorced.

Lyle's family enjoyed visiting when they were traveling through or planning a trip in the Rapid City area. They also loved it when he travelled to visit them over the years. Lyle was an avid reader and a great listener. He was meticulous at the things he enjoyed. He felt we should all be lifelong learners.

Lyle always worked hard. He worked for Nash Finch for 33 years managing grocery stores. He managed Piggly Wiggly in Minot ND and Williston ND, Warehouse Markets in Fargo ND, Grand Forks ND, Fremont NE, Lincoln NE, and Bismarck ND, then Prairie Market in Rapid City SD. Later, Lyle was a realtor and owned Sunshine Carpet Cleaning. Lyle was involved with his community and had served as a Pennington County Commissioner.

Lyle fell in love again and married LaRene Scheller on December 31,2008. Together they enjoyed their families, dancing, and events at the Moose Lodge. Later, they kept busy taking care of one another in their home.

Lyle was a Gold Star father. His son, Staff Sergeant Kenneth Hendrickson, lost his life in combat on January 24, 2004. His parents, Harold and Helen Hendrickson, and brothers, Arlyn, Dale, Roger, Bob, and Manville also preceded him in death.

Lyle is survived by his loving wife, LaRene, son, DuWayne Hendrickson (Joann) of Minot ND, daughter, Sharon Gudmunson (Gordon) of Orofino ID, daughter-in-law, Reane Hendrickson, his stepdaughter, Kristi Jordan (Dr. Roger) of Gillette WY, and stepson Scott Scheller (Siri) of Belle Fourche SD, grandchildren, Brandyn (Alison) Hendrickson, Seth (Cassie) Hendrickson, Dustin (Crystal) Hendrickson, Isaac (Lyndcie) Hendrickson, Nicole Thimgan, Trevor (Amber) Hendrickson, Bismarck ND,  Linae Hayden, Grant (Haley) Yeadon, Ryan(Amber) Yeadon, Ashley (Jack) Greer, Kelsey (Randall) McWilliams, Barret Jordan, 29 great grandchildren, and brother, Ardell in Mankato MN.

Lyle and LaRene were members of the United Methodist Church. Lyle did not want a funeral. Instead, there will be times to share personal memories. Memorials may be directed to the Kenneth Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Hughes High School in Bismarck, ND, or to any organization of the donor's choosing.
