Lyle G. Robinson, 83, of Rapid City, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Rapid City on October 7, 1934, to Alfred Donovan and Ethel Gladys (Galligan) Robinson. He grew up in Rapid City attending Rapid City schools. Lyle served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after serving the required two years.
Lyle married Juanita Brooks in Rapid City on November 5, 1958. Juanita passed away after 32 years of marriage.
He worked as a ranch hand, in construction and driving a semi-tractor/trailer. Most recently, as owner/operator for his partnership in R & R Trucking.
Early years found Lyle racing at Black Hills Speedway. He enjoyed watching Nascar and the Denver Broncos. He loved listening to County Western music, particularly George Jones, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. Between long hauls, the family enjoyed outings of a quick stop at Kentucky Fried Chicken and a car ride into the Hills for a picnic and fishing.
Lyle became reacquainted with Mary Lou Kiewel, and they have been inseparable since.
He was a member of The Retired Enlisted Association, serving on the board throughout the years.
Lyle is survived by his children: Sherry (Paul) Thomas, Broomfield, CO, Peggy Little, Rapid City, Robert Brooks, Wichita, KS, Georgia (Kevin) Andersh, Wagner and Lyle Robinson Jr, Rapid City, 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, Lyle's life-partner, Mary Lou Kiewel. His extended family includes: Rick (Nikki) Kiewel, Black Hawk, Tim Kiewel, Rapid City and Mike (Angi) Kiewel, Rapid City.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Juanita, his son, Randy Robinson and daughter, Tammy Rosales and an infant son.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, January 23 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Inurnment of his ashes will be in the Black Hawk Cemetery with military honors.
A memorial has been established by the family.
