Obituary

Mable I. Glover, 89, was born on February 28, 1931 in Crawford, NE, third child of Ernest & Lucille Miller.  She moved with her parents from the Iliff place near Crawford, to a farm 13 miles east of Oelrichs, SD at the age of 2.  She went to Pleasant Hill grade school for 8 years and moved to Chadron, NE for 4 years of high school, where she graduated in 1948.

She worked for Greydon Nichols, attorney for a couple of years.  A prominent young rancher, Merton Glover, came and swept her off her feet.  She married Merton August 17, 1951 in Chadron and moved to his ranch at Porcupine, SD.  In 1979 the ranch was sold and they moved to Black Hawk, SD.

She helped on the ranch and fed a crew dinner every day besides doing all the bookkeeping for the ranch, substitute teacher at Rockyford for many years.  She was also bookkeeper of Gordon Country Club while living at the ranch.  She was Computer Accounts Payable for Robbins & Stearns Lumber Company; Bookkeeper at Central States Fair; Trautman Construction bookkeeper and Wal-Mart in the craft and fabric department.

Mert and Mable went to AZ for winters in 1992.  She taught ceramics from 1994 to 2001 in Caliente.  She dearly loved ceramics.

Mable was charter member of SD Cowbelles and American National Cowbelles.  She was also a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.  Mable was preceded in death by her loving husband Merton in 2010, her parents, a sister and a brother.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenna (Jim) Williams of Gillette, WY; June (Keith) Ross of Pocatello, ID; two sons, Kendall of Black Hawk and Craig (Linda) also of Black Hawk.  She has two grandsons, John Glover of Black Hawk; Justin (Katee) Glover of Black Hawk; four granddaughters, Jamie (Corby) Scherz of Gillette, WY; Kaci (Mark) Peters of Rapid City, SD; and twins Kelsi and Samantha Ross of Pocatello, ID.  She has 5 ½ great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother Jack (Tinny) Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Herb Cleveland officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services.

Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers she requested donations to the American Heart Association.
