Rapid City Malinda Olivia (Dale) Schwalm was born April 2, 1918, at home at rural Nowlin, S.D., to Hans and Marie Dale. Min attended grades one thru eight in Nowlin, then Ninth grade in Minneapolis, MN. She returned to South Dakota and graduated from Midland High School in 1936. Min married Fred H. Schwalm on July 19, 1937 at Rural Nowlin. They lived in Midland until they moved to Rochford, S.D. in 1940. They have lived in Rapid City since 1942. She worked as bookkeeper at Hardware Hank Store in Baken Park from 1957 until she retired in 1977. Fred and Min celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2007. Min and Fred were long-term members of Calvary and Trinity Lutheran Churches where she taught Sunday School and led various Bible Studies over the years, as well as actively promoting and supporting many independent mission organizations. They frequently hosted numerous missionaries and Christian workers in their home. Min will be fondly remembered with love by students under her teaching and all to whom she ministered Gods love. Min was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Severt and Henry Dale, and by her sister Borghild (Merle) Jarman. She is survived by her husband, one son, Clair (Virginia), Park Rapids, Mn. and one daughter, Karen (Allan) Taylor, Aurora, CO, dear friends, Gary and Connie Hunsacker that she considered family, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, many nieces an nephews and many dear friends. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Rev. Wilbur Holz and Rev. Al Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City. A Memorial has been established to the Corner Stone Rescue Mission.
