RAPID CITYMarcella LaBarge, 95, of Rapid City, died at Fountain Springs Healthcare on Sunday, August 30, 2009. She was born on June 1, 1914, near Dante, to Anton and Lillian (Novotny) Rezac. She grew up in the Dante area and was the 2nd of 12 children. She contracted polio at the age of 10 and was unable to continue her education. She became the cook and baker for her family farm. She was united in marriage to Frank LaBarge on June 26, 1939 in Dante. They lived for 10 years in Wagner before moving to Rapid City in 1949. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Jean (Don) Newton, Tucson, Ariz. and Georgine (Ron) Richardson, Pierre; her 2 sons Larry (Barb) LaBarge, Rapid City and Bob (Kathy) LaBarge, Denver, Colo.; 2 brothers, Art (Mary) Rezac, Pierre and Ray (Theresa) Rezac, Scottsbluff, Neb.; 11 grandchildren, Matt LaBarge, Chris LaBarge, J. Newton, Jim Payton, Ryan LaBarge, Jason LaBarge, Amy Lebert, Mary Daniels, Jenifer Culhane, Rebecca Fernandez and Laura Hylton; 3 step-grandchildren, Bob Richardson, Patty Beasley and Kathy Knipsel; 20 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 1982, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 until 7 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Hills.
