Obituary

Marcia K. Jacobs (Mollet), Albuquerque, formerly of Rapid City, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 surrounded by her sons and family at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Marcia was born to Harold and Verla Mollet in Huron, SD on February 15, 1941. After graduating as valedictorian of her class in Wessington Springs, SD she attended Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, SD where she acquired her teaching certificate. During this time Marcia met Ronald W. Jacobs. They were married in Mitchell, SD on June 24, 1961. She later received her teaching degree from Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD. Marcia had an impact on the many students she taught throughout her teaching career in Cortland, NE and the Piedmont and Stagebarn Elementary schools. Ron and Marcia built a home in Piedmont, SD where they raised their three sons. After retirement they moved to Rapid City, SD where they enjoyed traveling and their family and friends until Ron's death in October, 2003. Marcia then moved to Albuquerque, NM where she resided until her death. Survivors include three sons, Brent W. Jacobs, Albuquerque, Dayne (Charl) Jacobs, Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Corey T. (Connie Sue) Jacobs, Rapid City; one brother, Lanning (Fran) Mollet, Yankton, South Dakota; one sister, Charla (Bob) Shimp, Charleston, South Carolina and seven grandchildren (Samuel, Brooks, Benjamin, Emmalena, Daniel, Gideon, Eli.) She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald and her parents. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, July 5 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 6 at Grace Reformed Church in Rapid City with Rev. David Fagrey officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Piedmont Lions Club and the Quilting Group at Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, NM.
