Obituary

Margaret "Mickey" Diane Loeffen Becket, age 65, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Mickey was born October 23, 1946 in Deadwood, South Dakota to Albert "Blackie" Loeffen and Mary Rose Loeffen. She was the eldest of nine children. Mickey is survived by her husband Arthur Becket of Rapid City, two daughters, Diane (Jeff) Moul of Rapid City, SD; Mary (Casey) Barrett of Caputa, SD; six grandchildren Whitney, Cassidy and Carrissa Barrett, Adia, Annalise and Logan Moul. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Loeffen of Lead, SD; Her sisters: Nancy Butler of Lead, SD; Sister Susan Marie Loeffen of Hankinson, North Dakota; Cindy Allen of Biloxi, Mississippi; Stephanie (Lonny) Mertz of Brownsville, Texas; and Kimberly Loeffen of Lead, SD; and her brothers: Albert (Jody) Loeffen of Red Lodge, Montana; and Mike (Rita) Loeffen of Deadwood, SD and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Albert "Blackie" Loeffen. Her grandparents Marianus and Whilhelmina "Minnie" Deleest Loeffen, Charles and Mary "Esther" Martin Rose and her brother David Loeffen. Mickey went to St. Patrick's Catholic School, Lead, SD through grade eight and graduated from Lead High School in 1964. She then attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education. She taught art for many years in Mission, SD, the Rapid City Public school system and worked at Designer's Too in downtown Rapid City. She was married June 6, 1970 in Lead, South Dakota to Arthur "Art" Becket. She and her husband Art had so many good friends with whom they enjoyed dancing and traveling. She was the go to gal for everyone who knew her for anything creative. She was an amazing artist and photographer. All who knew her called on her talents. Her activities included genealogy, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Catholic Daughter's of America, Black Hills Volksport Club, VFW, as well as traveling the world. Visitation will be at St. Therese Little Flower Parish, Friday, October 5, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Parish with Rev. William Zandri officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Loeffen, Albert Loeffen, Casey Barrett, Jeff Moul, Curt Moorehead and Keith Bagley. A memorial has been established with the Catholic Daughter's of America. "Your birth certificate proves you were born. Your death certificate proves that you died. But Photographs? Photographs prove that you lived."
