Obituary

RAPID CITY | Margaret M. Fleming, 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Margaret Mary Kelly was born on February 10, 1923, in Dickey County, North Dakota, to Thomas and Margaret (Rowe) Kelly. She grew up in Ellendale, N. D. and then attended Forbes (N. D.) High School, where she played basketball. She graduated from Forbes High School in 1942 and in 1943 moved to work for Boeing Aircraft in Washington as part of the war effort. On March 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Fleming in Ellendale. The couple lived in Ellendale and then moved to Britton in 1951. In 1952, the family moved to Rapid City and then to Aberdeen in 1954. In 1966 they returned to Rapid City and have resided here since. She worked very hard taking care of her large family and loved to bake for family and friends. Margaret was a member of St. Therese parish and St. Therese Altar Society. Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Fleming, Rapid City; eight sons, Dennis (Carla) Fleming, Robert (Shelley) Fleming, Michael (Carol) Fleming, James (Becky) Fleming and Charles (Lisa) Fleming, all of Rapid City, Tom (Susan) Fleming, Box Elder, David (Mary) Fleming, Oakes, N.D., and John Fleming, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Mary (Robert) Davis, Keystone; 32 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas (Gladys) Kelly, Coos Bay, Ore. and four sisters Bernice Carlson, Lisbon, N.D., Donna Rymer and Beatrice Hermanson, both of Aberdeen, and Janice Wilson, Yakima, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Susan Dean; a son, Kevin Fleming and 2 grandchildren, Serena and Sampson; and her brother, Lawrence Kelly, a.k.a. Uncle Speck. Visitation will be at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home on Sunday, Mar. 3, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 4, at the Church of St. Therese, the Little Flower, with the Rev. William Zandri presiding. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St. Therese Church.
