Rapid City – Margaret "June"  Smith, 87, Rapid City, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospice Auxiliary House.

Margaret June Koencamp was born December 11, 1928 at Bruce, SD to Albert and Ida Colista [VanDusen] Koencamp. This is where she attended school. She married James Aloysius Smith on November 13, 1949 at Aurora, SD where they lived for a few years. They moved to Rapid City in the early 1950's where she was a Nurse's Aide for many years. Her husband Jim died May 25, 2009 and she continued to live in Rapid City.

If at any time anyone needed anything, June would always help them out and always be there for them. She did this above and beyond her own needs.

Survivors include two sons: James [Maureen] Smith and Thomas Smith all of Black Hawk, SD; one daughter: Susan Whealy of Black Hawk; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one God Child: Mary Geise of Aurora, SD.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons: Timothy Smith and Daniel Smith and one daughter: Maureen Reed.

There will be a Wake Service and Rosary at 7:00 pm Monday, February 29 at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church, 12365 Sturgis Road, Piedmont.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 1 at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church  with Rev. Steve Biegler officiating.

Inurnment services will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City.
