Kansas City, MO - Margaret Kemerling passed away peacefully in her home in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, April 18, 2010. She had enjoyed good health for all her 96 years and only recently seemed to feel her age. Mrs. Kemerling was born in Rapid City on March 15, 1914 to Ben and Katharyn (Sigmund) Reimers. She attended schools in Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1932. She attended Greens School of Beauty Culture and worked in Belle Fourche and Rapid City as a beautician. She married Dan Kemerling January 1, 1939. They built the Stables Motel on East Omaha in 1952 and operated it for 13 years. Margaret was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the First Presbyterian Church. She lived 92 years of her life in Rapid City, moving to Kansas City in 2006 to be closer to her daughters. She enjoyed hearing from old friends in Rapid City. Survivors include two daughters: Dana Larson of Gilbert, AZ and Jenna Garretson of Lees Summit, MO; grandchildren, Dan Antrim of Scottsdale, AZ and Darren and Robin Antrim of Lees Summit, MO; and four great-grandchildren: Hailey and Nicholas Antrim of Scottsdale, AZ and Charlie and Jackson Antrim of Lees Summit, MO. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, in 2003, and her sister, Frances Gaarde and brother, Sigmund Reimers. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 21 at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery. The family will be hosting a reception at approximately 3:00 P.M., following the Interment at Black Hills National Cemetery, at Primrose Apartments, 2400 Minnesota Ave, to greet old friends an reminisce.
