RAPID CITYMargaret C. Mitzi (Hillenbrand) Lally, 82, passed away at home on Friday, August 12, 2011. She was born and raised in Batesville, Indiana and upon marriage, lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 50 years. Seven years ago, she moved to Rapid City to live with her brother, Ray Hillenbrand. She was loved cherished and respected by those who knew her and she had the extraordinary virtue of putting other people before herself in all she thought and did. In Rapid City one of her exploits at the age of 80, was to purchase the downtown adult book store building on Main Street, part of which she was turning into a normal independent bookstore called Mitzis Books. It will open in November of this year. In her own way, Mitzi was dedicated to her new community, Rapid City, and wanted to be a part of the ongoing effort to make downtown an even better place for all ages and walks of life within the community. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Lally, her parents, John W. and Mildred J. Hillenbrand and her brother, William G. Hillenbrand. She is survived by her brother, John A. Hillenbrand and his wife Joan, Batesville, Ind.; a brother, Ray J. Hillenbrand, Rapid City; her sister-in-law, Doby Hillenbrand, Tucson, AZ and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. The Christian wake service with rosary recitation will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Archbishop Charles Chaput presiding. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in McMurray, Penn.
