RAPID CITY- Helen Marie Darnall Norman Oslund, 94, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Fountain Springs Health Care. Marie was born to Jay F. Darnall and Helen (Sieh) Darnall on her grandparents farm near Naper, Nebraska. She moved to Red Owl, S.D. in 1929 with her parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Virgel. She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1936, and married Paul W. Norman in Sturgis, May 25, 1938. They moved to Rapid City in 1941 - where they raised their three children, Jay, Janet and Scott. Marie and Emmett Oslund were married in November 1965. She retired from Norwest Bank in 1982. Marie was a proud member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Beta Sigma Phi, Friendly Circle Club in Black Hawk and the Knit Wits. Marie is survived by brother Lloyd Darnall (wife Maxine), Brookings, S.D.; sons Paul Jay Norman (wife Connie), Glencoe, IL; Scott Norman (partner Doug Tyler), Seattle, WA; and Robert (Bob) Oslund, Piedmont, S.D. She was a Grandmother to: Pia Thompson (Chicago, IL), Molly Archambault, (MN), Casey Houston (Mpls, MN), Kim Oslund, (Rapid City, SD) and Robert Oslund, Jr. (Fayetteville, NC). Marie was a Great grandmother to; Stephanie Gaston, Madison Linster, Olivia Archambault, Eva Archambault and Soren Thompson and the Great-great grandmother to: Zoe Jane Gaston and Kaiden Linster. Marie was an Aunt to: Karen Thatcher, Lummi Island WA; David Darnall, Tillimook OR; Brian Darnall, Brookings SD; Sherry Fetzner, Wasilla AK; Wendy Hodson, Rapid City SD; Carole McKinstry, Bellevue WA; Doug Norman, Portland OR; David Norman, Seattle WA; Steve Norman, Seattle WA; Tom Norman, Black Hawk SD; Joe Norman, Rapid City SD; Nancy Uhl, Des Moines IA; and Joyce Malmberg, Portsmouth NH; Louis Lange, Rapid City,SD; and Lyle Lange, Rapid City SD. Marie was preceded in death by her husbands: Paul Norman, Emmett Oslund; daughter, Janet Houston; brother Virgel Darnall and daughter-in-law Colleen Oslund. Memorial services will be 11 am, Saturday, February 15 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Road with Rev. Herb B. Cleveland officiating. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.
