Obituary

RAPID CITY- Marie McMullen Seniuk, 87, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Marie was born August, 1929, to Agnes and Louis Schulte in Huron, SD. She was the youngest of three children. Her sister Louise (John) Halderman lived in Cheyenne, WY. Her brother, Edward (Ellen) Schulte lived in San Lorenzo, CA.

In 1930 the family moved to Keystone to work at Mt. Rushmore then to Rapid City. Marie graduated from Rapid City High School in 1947 and from National College of Business.

Marie met Clifford "Mac" McMullen while dining at the Canyon Lake Club in 1949 with her family. He asked her to dance. It was love at first sight. They married in 1950 and moved to Newcastle, WY where they built a beautiful home and raised two children, Peggy & Ronald. The family moved back to Rapid City in 1960 where Marie worked for Hubbard Mill & "Mac" for Johnson Machine.

The family were avid outdoorsmen. Camping, fishing, boating, skiing, and horses, and dancing at the Elks Club were among their favorites. Our home was full of activities and music, gardening, good food and family.

Marie loved St. Johns Church where she sang in the choir and sometimes directed. She sang for countless funerals. She never missed an event at St. Johns school with Peggy & Ron or at Central High School attending every play, ball game, recital or event. She saw both kids through college. She was our leader for brownie and cub scouts.

Marie was involved in grass root politics, was a founding member of Mayor Art LaCroix's Human Relations Commission and president of the local Business and Professional Women's Club.

After Mac's death in 1984, Marie took care of her mother, Agnes until her death in 1992. Her son Ron McMullen passed away in 2015.

She married family friend and second love of her life, George Seniuk in 1990. They loved spending time with family at the cabin near Deerfield, traveling in their motor home, ocean cruising and fishing on the Missouri River until George passed away in 2009.

Marie has special love for her only granddaughter, Kelsey (Peggy & Kent) and her husband Greg Rausch and great granddaughter, Sadie. She looked forward to the new baby on the way.

Marie said she has a wonderful and full life and would like to thank all the family and friends who shared it with her.

Our heartfelt "thank you's" to all of the staff and volunteers at the Hospice House who made her stay there a blessing. You are truly "God's Butterflies."
