Marie E. Sinjem, 94, Rapid City, was called home by Our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. She was our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, & great- great grandmother. She passed away peacefully under wonderful care at Clarkson Health Care Facility. Marie, daughter of William and Elsie (Ricks) Clark, was born on August 28, 1916, in Manchester, OK. At a young age, her family moved to Bushnell, SD where she grew up with her brother, Dwayne. Marie married Carl B. Sinjem in 1950. They farmed in the Brookings area and later moved to the Black Hills. Marie and Carl enjoyed over 40 years together before Carl passed away in February 1991. While Marie was busy raising a family of seven children, she found time for a career outside the home. She worked in nursing at St. Johns Hospital as well as working for Stanley Home Products then retired in 1972 from the National Bank of SD. She continued her active life by participating in the Alter Guild & Pricilla Circle at South Canyon Lutheran Church. She volunteered at Stav Kirk and was a member of American Business Womens Association. Marie loved her flower gardens, camping at the lake, and taking walks around the neighborhood. Survivors include her brother, Dwayne Clark, of Fruita, CO; five children; Arlan and Jane Lynch of Big Bear, CA; Dale and Barbara Lynch of Caputa, SD, Darrel Lynch of Rapid City, SD, Rita and Dennis Rose of Rapid City, SD, Ramona and Bradley Murphy of Billings, MT; 28 grandchildren, 58 great- grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, two daughters, Marlene Neumann and Carla Speckles, two grandsons, a granddaughter, and one great-grandson. Marie was always the anchor for her family and her family was her life. We were blessed to have such a wonderful mother who was and always will be our greatest inspiration. Visitation will be Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 2-4 pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be at 10 am, Monday, November 8, 2010 at South Canyon Lutheran Church with Rev. Bruce Thalacker officiating. . Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City. A memorial has been established for Hospice of the Hills and Clarkson Health Care Facility.
