RAPID CITY- Marijean I. Thomas, 82, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Firesteel Nursing Home in Mitchell, SD.

She was born March 11, 1938 in Alliance, NE to Douglas and Jeanie Thomas. She graduated from high school in Alliance, NE which was home of the Bulldogs. She worked for a sub shop on Mt. Rushmore Rd., was the head housekeeper at the Tip Top Motel; did meal preparations for the school district at Lincoln Elementary on Columbus St., and was the head assistant housekeeper at the Roadway Inn on Mt. Rushmore Rd.

Marijean was an avid reader, enjoying books like Soup for the Soul, Romance novels, Sophia Brown, John Edwards and self help books. She loved to hike, walk, lift weights, roller skate and arts and crafts. She also enjoyed making cards for people on special occasions. Marijean was a collector of angels, crosses, and candles.

Marijean will be remembered for being a caring, gentle, hardworking, and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She always put others before herself and was nonjudgmental. Marijean was a good listener, very much a lady, and always kept things neat and meticulous. She enjoyed her one on one conversations with friends and family.

She enjoyed music, especially Air Supply, Journey, Hall & Oats, Gospel and Country. She also loved the movies Ms. Doubtfire, Corky Romano, and Bicentennial Man. She also loved the musicals, Westside Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Hair, Grease, and Phantom of the Opera.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Richard "Dick" Thomas.

She is survived by two sons: Scott Stucker, New Underwood; Mike (Wendy) Stucker, Austin, TX; three grandchildren: Ashton, Barron and Kason; brother, Doug Thomas, Alliance, NE and sister Kathy Thomas, Seattle, WA. She is also survived by her best friend, Norma Thompson.

Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
