Obituary

Marilyn Jo Mincks, 88, passed away on June 15th, 2016 surrounded by family, love, and prayer. She is preceded by her husband Eugene Mincks, sister Phyllis Ashton, her son Gary and his wife Donna; she is survived by her son Ronald and his wife Jane, niece and nephew Davy and Joe Ashton, and her grandchildren: Dominic, Michael, Mathew (and Nadezhda), Emma, Benjamin, Hannah, and great grandchild Noah. Marilyn was born in Gary, Indiana March 10th, 1928, to Irene and Joseph Gray. She attended Western State College in Gunnison, CO where she met her late husband, Eugene Mincks. They were married on the radio show "Bride and Groom" on February 12, 1949 in Hollywood, and enjoyed dancing and entertaining throughout their marriage. She was an active member of PEO during her adult years, and was an avid reader, who after losing her sight still loved to listen to books on tape. She was an appreciator of the arts and enjoyed painting, sewing, and listening to music. For most of her married life she resided in Colorado; she and Eugene moved to Rapid on September 11, 2001, and Marilyn has since resided in Rapid City, SD. She will be missed, especially by her beloved Maltese Daisy May, who has been the recipient of much love and doting over the past ten years.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00am on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Black Hills National Cemetery. Friends may meet at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home to process to the cemetery departing at 8:15am.
