Rapid City Marilyn M. Schmidt, 70, of Rapid City, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born February 7, 1939 in Newell, South Dakota to George and Mamie Stolnack- Johnson. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1957. She went on to graduate from Stewart Hairstyling Academy in Sioux Falls and became a licensed beautician. On December 26, 1957 she married the love of her life, Arnold Schmidt in Pipestone Mn. The couple lived on a farm near Valley Springs from 1966 until 1993. They moved to Belle Fourche in 1993 and then to Rapid City in 1995. Mrs. Schmidt was a loving wife and mom to her family. Survivors include her husband, Arnold Schmidt; three sons, Kent and wife Nancy of Manassas, Va, Bruce Schmidt of Jasper, Mn., Lynn Schmidt of Valley Springs, SD; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Daniel Schmidt of Manassas, Va; seven sisters; two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mamie Johnson. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. David Baer of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Whitewood officiating. According to her wishes, her body was cremated and no visitation is scheduled. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association.
