Marion A. Schlabach, 75, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House. She was born March 30, 1933 in Hulett, Wyoming to James G. and Myrtle (Lindsay) McClure. Marion grew up in Belle Fourche, graduating from Belle Fourche High School. Marion married Robert Schlabach, August 26, 1950 in Custer. The couple moved to Rapid City, Delaware, Ohio, Spearfish, Sturgis, where they owned and operated Carls Motel in the late 50s, back to Rapid City, on to Morton, Ill. and recently returning to Rapid City. Marion and Robert served as volunteers for the American Red Cross as members of the Disaster Action Team from 1993 until 2001. She was an avid bowler and past member of the Moose lodge #1187 and Cursilo Survivors include her husband, Robert Schlabach, Rapid City, three sons; Robert Scott Schlabach, Rapid City, David Allen Schlabach, Rapid City and Gillette and Marc Lee Schlabach, Rapid City, and a daughter, Susan Ann Danielson, and her husband Lee, Arvada, CO., 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, June 6 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 7 at Immaculate Conception Church, 922 5th St. (5th & South St) in Rapid City with Fr. Marcin Garbacz celebrating. Inurnment will be 11:00 am, Monday, June 9 at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
