RAPID CITY - Marjorie L. Poliska, 87, Rapid City, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Clarkson Health Care. She was born on November 19, 1923, in Letart, West Virginia, to John R. and Elsie M. (Wood) Nuckles. The family later moved to Illinois and Marge graduated from Sycamore, Illinois High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Leo L. Poliska on Sept. 28, 1946. The couple continued to live in Illinois until moving to California in 1954. Marjorie was employed for many years by a construction business as a bookkeeper and equipment owner until her retirement. She and Leo retired to La Habra, California. After Leo passed away in 1979, Marjorie continued to live in La Habra and Bullhead City, Arizona, before moving to Rapid City in 2002. Marjorie took great pride and joy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing, the Lawrence Welk Show and cooking (she was famous for her homemade chicken/noodles and pies. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge, Pinochle Club and Dance Club. Survivors include three sons, Ed Poliska, Riverside, Calif., Keith (Lori) Poliska, Murrieta, Calif. and Richard Poliska, Conroe, Texas; a daughter, Judy (Guy) Shobe, Rapid City; 7 grandchildren, Heather Poliska, Summer Dabbs, Holly Creech, Brittney Poliska, Aaron Poliska, Michael Shobe and Brian Shobe, 4 great-grandchildren, a brother, John Nuckles, Batavia, Ill. and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be one hour before services, which will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, at South Canyon Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bruce Thalacker officiating. Burial will be on Wednesday in the Stillman Valley Cemetery in Stillman Valley, Ill. Memorials may be directed to Clarkson Health Care.
