Rapid City - On Sunday, August 19, 2012 Mark Rudolph Brave passed from this life to his eternal home. He lived a very blessed and happy 92 years and passed surrounded by his loved ones. Mark was born in 1920 to Margaret and Joseph Brave Boy near Wood, SD. He attended Catholic school in St. Francis where he excelled in carpentry and music. Both were a constant throughout his life. Mark was unable to join the military but moved to Seattle and served his country, working in the ship yards. After returning home he married his beautiful bride, Viola Farmer. Together they had five children: Patsy, Marty, Elizabeth, Mary, and JoAnne that they raised in Rapid City. Mark retired from his construction career as a superintendent with Henry H. Hackett and Sons after 47 years. He enjoyed spending time in his garage woodworking and in Marty's garage supervising. He loved golfing with friends and family, sharing his great musical talent not only with his family but also playing for dances. He had the kindest and gentlest spirit that lifted and encouraged all who knew him. He is survived by his wife: Viola Brave; son: Marty Brave [Liz]; daughters: Patsy McKenzie [deceased], Elizabeth Hudson [Thomas Hudson deceased], JoAnne Muffat [Ted], all of Rapid City, and Mary One Feather of Omaha, NE; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, and daughter: Patsy McKenzie. Rosary will be 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 22 at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, 221 Knollwood Drive. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 23 at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, with Rev. David Matzko, SJ officiating. Burial of cremains will take place12:00 pm Friday, August 24 at the Bad Nation Cemetery near Wood, SD.
